Transform your teeth with Lumineers in Glen Mills, PA
Have you noticed that now, more than ever, we have become surrounded by truly flawless smiles? This is not a coincidence. In recent years, cosmetic dentistry has become more affordable and more accessible, making it easier than ever to have the smile of your dreams. At Star Care Dental in Glen Mills, PA, we love providing our patients with options to enhance the appearance of their teeth. One of the most versatile and effective means of transforming the smiles is with Lumineers.
What are Lumineers?
Lumineers are similar to porcelain veneers. The difference is in the size. Lumineers are smaller in size than porcelain veneers, which means that less of the healthy tooth structure needs to be removed. The ultra-thin porcelain facades are attached to the front of your natural teeth to hide a wide range of imperfections. They are a great choice for patients concerned by the following issues:
- Permanently stained teeth
- Slight to moderate misalignment
- Teeth that are differing lengths
- Small gaps between teeth
- Minor cracks
- Misshapen teeth
What to expect with Lumineers
Lumineers can be placed in two dental visits. During the first appointment, we will discuss your desired results to ensure that Lumineers are the right choice. Once we have decided to move forward, the first step is to take impressions of the teeth for creation of the Lumineers. Because Lumineers are more conservative than porcelain veneers, no numbing shots or preparation of the teeth is required during this first visit.
When your veneers are ready, you will return to the office for your placement appointment. First, we will perform a “try-on” to make sure the Lumineers look natural and fit comfortably. Once we agree that they are right, Dr. Nair will lightly etch the teeth to allow for a strong bond when the Lumineers are attached to the teeth. One by one the Lumineers will be placed on the teeth in this manner. The final step is to check the bite to make sure everything feels comfortable before you are on your way with your brand-new smile.
Lumineers can last for decades with proper care. It is important to practice good oral hygiene and avoid biting or chewing on hard objects to prevent accidentally cracking one.
